Today is the day that the last poker tournament main event of the year in the EPT calendar kicks off in Prague and it promises to be a great event. The poker tournament has been running since the 8th and goes on until the 18th making an 11 day poker fest in one of the most stunning capitals of Europe. This main event in the poker tournament calendar is a €5300 event promising a huge first prize; last year the first prize was €835,000 and was won by Swede Ramzi Jelassi who prevailed over more than 850 who entered. There are of course many side events going on which include turbo tournaments which caters for those who hate sitting around when your hand is not being played and there is no need to think that the big prize money is in the main event as there are high roller poker tournaments with massive entry fees of up to €100,000 with the winnings depending upon the number of entries. There are also poker tournaments for those who like heads up play with various buy ins and although the smallest buy in is a single knock out tournament others are the best of three with finals being the best of five in an effort to play down the luck factor although as with any heads up tournament luck does play a part. There are also ladies tournaments although onlinepoker.ie cannot quite understand why there should be as ladies are as good if not better at poker than men, it just so happens that most poker tournaments are won by men but that probably has more to do with men being in the majority rather than any reflection of skill levels. No doubt in the next poker tournament mews feature the winner can be announced but progress will be reported over the next few days.
