When you receive your hole cards you could probably always make something out of them if you really wanted. This might be something you really want but it is not worth your while. You are playing for real money and want to reduce the risks as much as possible. If you get two hole cards that do not have anything in common and are basically rubbish then throw them away. Do not try and make a hand with them by think that the community cards are going to make a big difference.

If you have a reasonable hand with your hole cards then you could consider just trying to see the first three community cards. This is something you should only do if you really think that the community cards can make a difference. This is definitely not something you should do very often, only if you really have doubts. Every time you stay in for the flop it costs you money and you want to win money and not loos it. This may sound very easy but you would be surprised at the amount of players that stay in the game too long, resulting in risking unnecessary cash.

This is something that a lot of new players do, they see to many hands in the hope that they will have some luck. Poker does have an element of luck in it but you cannot assume that you are always going to be lucky. If your hole cards do not have anything in common then get out of the game, it is that simple.

This means that it sometimes can take quite a while before you get a decent hand and can actually play. This is part of the game, patients and control. If you have the patients and do not get frustrated then you will do well, just try and relax and wait until it is your turn to take the pot. If you feel that you have been waiting too long and you are still not getting decent hole cards then it might be an idea to get up and find another table or even leave and come back another day.
